79. Phronimella elongata (Claus, 1862)

Type locality: Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

Synonyms: Anchylonyx hamatus Streets, 1877; Phronima elongata Claus, 1862; Phronimella filiformis Bovallius, 1887; Phronimella hippocephala Giles, 1888.

Distribution. World: Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean (Claus 1862), Gulf of Mexico (Felder & Camp 2009), Greece (Koukouras 2010), New Zealand (Webber et al. 2010), India (Pillai 1965b).

India: Western India Ecoregion: Karnataka (Pillai 1965b); Kerala (Pillai 1965b); South India Ecoregion: Tamil Nadu (Pillai 1965b); Northern Bay of Bengal Ecoregion: Bay of Bengal (Giles 1888 as Phronimella hippocephala Giles, 1888) Andaman and Nicobar Islands Ecoregion: Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Jossi 1973).
