Didactics of Mathematics – a Model for upper Secondary Education

In our article we put forward a pedagogical approach for the teaching of Mathematics, applicable in secondary school. The teaching of Mathematics in  secondary education that is put forward aims for the applied teaching pattern, used in both classical and modern teaching, as well as developments in general teaching from the past decades, developed in the spirit of the curricular paradigm, under the name of Theory and Methodology of Assessment. It is within this concept that we explore the pattern of didactics of science/didactics of sciences, as promoted in French postmodern pedagogy. According to the requirements of the curricular paradigm adapted to the pre-teenager’s psychological features, embedded in secondary school education, the pattern of Mathematics teaching incorporates and combines in its structure the following basic elements: the general pedagogic purpose = forming – developing logical – mathematical thinking; the specific derived contents, defined as skills and basic mathematical knowledge; the content of mathematical training at general culture level, the methodology of training (teaching methods and forms of organization), and the assessment of results obtained in the study of Mathematics in secondary education, conducted by classical and alternative methods.
