Phlaurocentrum Karsch 1889

Description

Genus Phlaurocentrum Karsch, 1889

The genus has been revised by Ragge (1962); later Massa (2013) described three further species and presently nine species are known; while all the species have been exhaustively described, only a very shortly description was provided for P. turbatum (Walker, 1869), its holotype being badly preserved and impossible to separate from other species. For this reason, Ragge (1964) proposed that it be considered as a nomen dubium, suspecting that some species subsequently described could be synonymous. Thus, in the present paper this species is not considered.

Table 1 lists all the known species of the genus Phlaurocentrum plus another two previously undescribed, one from the Republic of Congo and another from Côte d’Ivoire. P. morettoi Massa, 2013 is here considered synonymous with P. lobatum Ragge, 1962.
