Investigation of the Relationship between Cyberwellness Awareness and Self-Perception in Adolescents

This study aims to examine the relationship between cyberwellness awareness and self-perception in adolescents in terms of various variables. In the study, descriptive relationships between cyberwellness awareness and self-perception were examined. The study group of the research consists of 296 students studying in the 8th grade of a secondary school in a city centre. "Personal Information Form", "Self Perception Profile for Children" and "Student Cyberwellness Scales" were applied to the students in the study group. Statistical procedures, t-tests for independent samples, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) for independent samples, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used. As a result of the analyses, it was determined that gender and internet usage time variables showed significant differences in terms of cyberwellness awareness and there were positive and significant relationships between cyberwellness awareness and self-perception. In addition, as a result of regression analysis, it was determined that self-perception significantly predicted cyberwellness awareness and explained 17% of the total variance in cyberwellness awareness. In line with the findings obtained from the research, it can be said that self-perception is an important factor for cyberwellness awareness.
