TYPE SPECIES: Vespertilio caninus Wied-Neuwied, 1821 (preoccupied; = Emballonura macrotis Wagner, 1843).

SYNONYMS: Peronymus.

COMMENTS: Includes Peronymus; see Cabrera (1958:52). Corbet and Hill (1980:45) listed Peronymus as a distinct genus following Sanborn (1937).
