Echimys braziliensis

Description

Echimys braziliensis (Waterhouse, 1848). Nat. Hist. Mamm., 2:330.

TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Minas Gerais, Lagoa Santa.

DISTRIBUTION: S Brazil in Minas Gerais and probably coastal forests from S Bahia to Rio de Janeiro.

SYNONYMS: armatus Winge, 1887.

COMMENTS: According to Cabrera (1961:540) Phyllomys brasiliensis is a nomen nudum. Emmons and Feer (1990:220) recognized as Nelomys sp., stating that the correct name for brasiliensis is not clear.
