TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Yucatan, Chichen-Itza.

DISTRIBUTION: Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico) and N Guatemala.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Heteromys. Reviewed by Engstrom et al. (1987a) and Schmidt et al. (1989, Mammalian Species, 345).
