Lissodelphis borealis

Description

Lissodelphis borealis (Peale, 1848). Mammalia and Ornithology, in U.S. Expl. Exped., 8: 35.

TYPE LOCALITY: North Pacific, 10° W. of Astoria, Oregon (46° 6' 50” N., 134° 5 ' W.) (U.S.A.).

DISTRIBUTION: Cold temperate to subarctic waters of the North Pacific, from British Columbia to Baja California and Kurile Isis, to Japan.

COMMENT: May be a Northern Hemisphere form of peronii (WFP and RLB); MN disagrees.

PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Cetacea.
