Description

Rhinolophus clivosus Cretzschmar, 1828. In Ruppell, Atlas Reise Nordl. Afr., Saugeth., p. 47.

TYPE LOCALITY: Saudi Arabia, Muwaylih(= Mohila).

DISTRIBUTION: Transcaucasia to Afghanistan; Arabia to Algeria; subsaharan Africa to Cameroun and South Africa.

COMMENT: Includes bocharicus; see Aellen, 1959, Rev. Suisse Zool., 66:362-366. R. bocharicus is considered a species by OLR and by DeBlase, 1980, Fieldiana Zool., N.S., 4:94-97. This species does not include deckenii or silvestris; see Koopman, 1975, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 154:386.
