TYPE LOCALITY: Chile, Valdivia.

DISTRIBUTION: S. and C. Chile; S. Argentina.

COMMENT: Type locality fixed by Thomas, 1903, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., ser. 7, 12:240, based on Philippi, 1870, Arch. Naturg., 36(1):41 —43.

PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Felidae.
