Modern student tourism: Features and development prospects

  • 1. Southern Federal University (Rostov-on-Don, Russia)

Description

The article deals with the topical issue of the student educational and cognitive tourism as a part of the youth and student tourism program in Russia. The author assumes that students should be involved in organizing student tourism, namely in the processes of preparing stay programs, receiving and accommodating travelers, because they are the target audience of this project and will be able to adapt as quickly as possible to changing requests from student tourists. This idea can be realized by creating special student tourism societies at departments that graduate specialists in the field of tourism, which will implement the program of student tourism at the university. The study is based on the information about educational tourism development. This type of tourism is the ancestor of student tourism and appeared in Russia back in Peter's time, when the first universities were created. Currently, educational tourism is part of student tourism, which has been supplemented by short-term trips with educational or personal goals. This article presents the results of a retrospective analysis of developing the concept of educational and student tourism, and also reflects the possibility of creating a student tourism society on the basis of a higher educational institution to implement the student and youth tourism program under the leadership of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
