Material examined. 1 female, Soobuk-ri, Uihwong-myon, GB: Gunwui 2011.06.11. (Kim SS).

Diagnosis. Mecyna fusei can be diagnosed by the yellowish forewing with two large rectangular and one rounded markings on the central fascia and the dark brown subtermen, and the yellowish hindwing with the medially projected postmedial line and the dark brown subtermen. Externally, Mecyna fusei is similar to M. gracilis (Butler, 1879) in wing color and wing pattern elements, but can be distinguished by the more angled postmedial line of the hindwing.

Description. Wingspan 25mm. Antennae filiform; frons broad, yellowish white; maxillary palpi minute, tip ochreous; labial palpi long in length, about three times to eye diameter, 1 st segment, white, 2 nd segment tinged with ochreous scales. Body white. Forewing yellowish in ground color; antemedial line dark ochreous, slanted, weakly undulating; postmedial line weakly undulating, medially projected, incurved; central fascia broad, tapered from middle to dorsum, three large brown dots, costally more or less rectangular, medially rounded; subtermen brownish, medially tapered to dorsum. Hindwing yellowish in ground color; antemedian with short, strongly bent dark ochreous line that meets the middle part of the postmedial line; postmedial line dark ochreous, medially projected, incurved; subtermen brownish tapered to dorsum. Female genitalia. Papillae anales broad, plate-shaped; posterior apophyses thick, about twice of 8 th segment in length; anterior apophyses basally thicker, gradually tapered distally, long as twice as 8 th segment; ostium bursae tube-shaped, ventrally with a pair of round plate-shaped lamella antevaginalis; ductus bursae short, posteriorly with colliculum, strongly sclerotized, medially expanded, sclerotized; corpus bursae large ovate, a linear signa band with minute spicules on both sides.

Distribution. South Korea and Japan.

DNA barcoding. One specimen from South Korea (OK501205) was sequenced, and the genetic difference between M. fusei and its relative, M. asinalis (Hübner) was 13%.

Remarks. The genus Mecyna comprises 34 species worldwide and the genitalia of this group show one pair of apical cornuti in the male genitalia, and a central granulose area in the corpus bursae and a short, broad, and sclerotized ductus bursae in the female genitalia (Mally et al., 2019). In South Korea, three species of Mecyna are recorded, including M. fusei.
