Description

Genus Polyplectropus Ulmer 1905a

Type species. Polyplectropus flavicornis Ulmer 1905a by monotypy.

Although Polyplectropus is found almost world-wide and is diverse in Southeast Asia and the Neotropics (there are about 40 species in the Australian Region, including 21 in New Caledonia), the genus is presently represented by only four described species in New Guinea (Morse 2021) and a single described species, Polyplectropus lacusalbinae Kimmins 1953 (in Mosely & Kimmins 1953), in Australia. Here two new species, P. berryensis sp. nov. and P. bamboosa sp. nov., are described from the NT.
