Description

Cuculus canorus canorus Linnaeus, 1758

LITERATURE. — Green & Sayer (1979); Thonnérieux et al. (1989); Dowsett (1993); Mauvais (1998); Borrow & Demey (2001, 2014); Portier (2002c); Thiollay (2006a); Balanca et al. (2007); Dowsett et al. (2013); Willemoes et al. (2014).

STATUS. — Palaearctic migrant.

REMARK. — The occurence of C. c. canorus is confirmed by tracks of northern European breeding birds (Willemoes et al. 2014). The presence of the smaller Iberian race C. c. bangsi Oberholser, 1919 needs confirmation, eventually through biometric measurements or evidence of tagged birds.
