Description

Key to species of Quadrimaera from Atol das Rocas

1. Palm of gnathopod 2 transverse, with two U-shaped medial concavities and a distal elliptical concavity preceding the palmar corner; telson deeply cleft........................................................................................ 2

- Palm of gnathopod 2 obtuse, with a large medial concavity and palmar corner produced into a stout process slightly surpassing dactylus articulation ................................................................ Q. chaelata sp. nov.

2. Palm of gnathopod 2 with proximal concavity shorter than the next one; dactylus with inner margin naked; pereopods 5–7 with posterodistal lobe well developed; telson with four distal setae and two plumose small setae on lateral margin........................................ Q. cristianae Krapp-Schickel & Ruffo, 2000

- Palm of gnathopod 2 with proximal concavity longer than the next one; dactylus with inner margin bearing a stout spine opposite the proximal concavity on the palm; pereopods 5–7 with posterodistal lobe not well developed; telson with four setae and an apical nail and three small setae on lateral margin.................................................................................................................................................
