Material examined. Korea: 1 Ƥ, Gwanak Arboretum, Manan-gu, Anyang-si, GG, 6.IX–11.X.2006, MT, J. Lim leg.; 1 Ƥ, ditto, 9–24.VI.2007, MT, J. Lim leg.; 1 Ƥ, Mt. Palbongsan, Seo-myeon, Hongcheon-gun, GW, 21.VIII.2008, S. Jung leg.

Diagnosis. Body length ~ 9.6 mm (Fig. 148); LFW ~ 5.2 mm (Fig. 156). Vertex convex with rounded corners. Temple profile divergent anterad. Mandible black except apex dark castaneous; antenna black; legs dark castaneous. Head 0.9 × as long as wide. Mandible with five apical teeth (Fig. 150). First five antennal segments in ratio of 4.8: 1.0: 1.3: 1.5: 2.4 in length; flagellomere 1 as long as wide; flagellomere 11 2.4 × as long as wide (Fig. 151). Clypeus with broadly rounded median lobe. Frons polished, punctures conspicuous (Fig. 149). Eye without hairs; HE 1.2 × OOL, WF 3.6 × WOT. Frontal angle of ocellar triangle obtuse. Pronotal disc 0.7 × as long as wide. Scutellar pit oval, each pit separated from each other by 3.0 × as its maximum diameter (Fig. 152). Propodeal disc 0.7 × as long as wide with five discal carinae (Fig. 155). Fore wing with short metacarpus, 0.2 × as long as pterostigma; transverse-median vein strongly convex posteriorly (Fig. 156).

Variation. Some specimens with castaneous tarsi; pronotal collar castaneous to dark castaneous; legs of some specimens castaneous; TL 8.47–10.17 mm; LH 0.90–0.96 × WH; LP 0.65–0.67 × WP; propodeal disc 0.62–0.74 × as long as wide.

MALE. Unknown.

Distribution. Korea (GG, GW), Japan (Honshu, Kyushu, Tsushima, Ryukyus Is.), Taiwan.

Remarks. Both sexes have been recorded from China and Japan. However, the male specimen has not been found in Korea until now. The junior synonym Calyozella sauteri Enderlein 1920 is a replacement name for the secondary homonym Epyris apicalis Walker in Smith 1874 (ICZN, 1999, paragraph 23.3.5). Krombein (1987) who placed Dolus apicalis Motschulsky 1863 in Epyris Westwood 1832 did not propose a substitute name inasmuch as a junior synonym may be available for apicalis Walker in Smith.

Ecology. Some specimens which were collected under rotten wood are recorded in Japan (Terayama 2006). One specimen examined in this study was found on Quercus timber with tenebrionid larva in August.
