Megachile funebris Radoszkowski

Megachile funebris Radoszkowski, 1874: 147, male holotype (type depository unknown) South Africa; Pasteels 1965: 557. Megachile (Creightonella) funebris Radoszkowski: Cockerell 1937: 135, 158, 175, 186.

Megachile (Chalicodoma) funebris Radoszkowski: Friese 1909: 252, 354.

Discussion. Radoszkowski (1874) described funebris from South Africa. The holotype has not been located. Cockerell (1937) clearly stated that M. funebris resembles M. ianthoptera and not M. aculeata, as suggested by Friese (1909). Until the holotype is found the true identity of this species remains in abeyance.
