Description

* Placonema pataguense Brugni, Viozzi, Fernández & Vega, 2009

Type host. Galaxias maculatus (Jenyns) (Pisces: Galaxiidae).

Site of infection. Stomach.

Type locality. Argentina, Neuquén Province, Laguna Patagua (40º47´S, 71º37ʹW).

Paratypes: MLP 5865 (333, 3ƤƤ).

Remarks. Holotype (3), allotype (Ƥ), and 6 paratypes (333, 3ƤƤ) deposited in the Colección Nacional de Parasitología del Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales Bernardino Rivadavia, Buenos Aires, Argentina; 12 paratypes (5ƤƤ, 733) deposited in the Colección Parasitológica de la Universidad Nacional del Comahue, (Bariloche, Argentina); 4 paratypes (2ƤƤ, 2 33,) deposited in the United States National Parasite Collection, Beltsville, Maryland.
