Key to Cybocephalidae from Japan
1. Eyes indistinctly visible in ventral aspect. Metaventrite (Fig. 2 A) concave and short, about as long as mesoventrite. Apical margin of inter-metacoxal area of abdominal sternite III (Fig. 2 A) narrow and acuminate (Pastillus). Antennae (Fig. 8 K) tensegmented.................................................................. Pastillus eminentithorax sp. nov.

Apical margin of inter-metacoxal area of abdominal sternite III (Fig. 2 B) wide and broadly rounded (Cybocephalus).
