Eupithecia actaeata Walderdorff, 1869, Korrespondenz-Blatt des Zoologisch-Mineralogischen Vereines in Regensburg 23 (6): 82. Holotype ♂ not traced, [Germany].
Eupithecia praenubilata Inoue, 1958, Tinea 4 (2): (252), fig. 9; pl. 34, fig. 22. Holotype ♂ (coll. H. Inoue in BMNH, examined), [Japan]: Kushiro, Shibecha (treated as subsp. of E. actaeata Walderdorff, 1869 in Inoue, 1963).
Widely distributed in the Palaearctic Region from the Pyrenees in the west to Japan in the east. Not previously recorded from Mongolia.
Material examined. 1♂, Mongolia, Central aimak, Bogdo-uul Mts., 5 km S of Ulaanbaatar Airport, 1650 m, 106°52’E, 47°50’N, 11.vii.1986, exp. Gy. Fábián, M. Hreblay, L. Peregovits, G. Ronkay, Mironov slide no. 834♂ (TTM).
