Grammatorcynus bilineatus (Rüppell, 1836) —Double-lined mackerel

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens observed by G. R. Allen. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea east to Marshall Islands and Fiji, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Pelagic, near coral reefs, 15– 50 m. Marine.

Katsuwonus pelamis (Linnaeus, 1758) —Skipjack tuna

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on AMS material (AMS I.19687-020). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Circumglobal in tropical and warm temperate seas. Pelagic, schooling offshore, 0– 260 m. Marine.

Rastrelliger kanagurta (Cuvier, 1816) —Indian mackerel

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens observed and photographed at St. CTR 0 9, CTR 12, CTR 32, and by P. Laboute (St. PR 126).

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea, East and South Africa, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northwestern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in coastal bays, harbours and deep lagoons, usually in some turbid plankton-rich waters, 20– 90 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang as Cybium commersoni by Munro (1958: 262). Specimens photographed at St. CTR 30; also observed by G. R. Allen.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea, East and South Africa, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to Palau and Fiji north to Korea and southern Japan, south to New South Wales (Australia), New Caledonia and Lord Howe Island, recently immigrated into eastern Mediterranean through Suez Canal. Pelagic, from shallow water to edge of continental shelf, 10– 70 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens photographed at St. CTR 32. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Worldwide in tropical and warm temperate seas, in the western Pacific south to New Zealand. Oceanic, pelagic, 0– 600 m. Marine.
