Natricidae Bonaparte 1838

Description

FAMILY NATRICIDAE Bonaparte 1838, 124

(2 genera, 4 species). Several authors (i.e. Vidal et al. 2007, Solís et al. 2014) have credited the incorrect publication (Bonaparte 1840) for the origin of the name Natricidae. The name was first introduced by Bonaparte (1838, as Natricina). Wallach et al. (2014) credited Boettger (1883) for the Natricidae.

Storeria Baird & Girard 1853, 135 (1 species) Storeria dekayi (Holbrook 1839, 121*, see Adler 1976, xxxiii)

Thamnophis Fitzinger 1843, 26 (3 species)

Thamnophis fulvus (Bocourt 1893, 777 in A.H.A. Duméril et al. 1870–1909) Thamnophis marcianus (Baird & Girard 1853, 36)

Thamnophis proximus (Say 1823, 187 in James 1823)
