Type material. Holotype ♂, SOUTH AFRICA: Eastern Cape, Qachas Nek, 30º10’S, 28º37’E, 28.XI.2005, Maluti Project team leg. (NMBA 10203); Paratype 1♂, SOUTH AFRICA: Eastern Cape, Ongeluksnek, 30º20’S, 28º21’E, 8.XII.2005, Maluti Project team leg. (NMBA 10204).

Etymology. The specific name is a combination of letters inspired by the name of the type locality.

Diagnosis. Males of Cheiramiona qachasneki sp. nov. can be easely recognized by the serrated outer lobe of the EM (Figs 80–81).

Description. Male (n = 2): TL = 5.15 (5.1–5.2); CL = 2.35 (2.3–2.4); CW = 1.70 (1.7–1.7); OAL = 0.38 (0.35– 0.40); OAW = 1.05 (1.0–1.1); CLL = 0.05 (0.05–0.05). Chelicerae: robust with long fangs; PMT:RMT = 6:3 (Fig. 79). Measurements: AME–AME 0.15; AME–ALE 0.20; AME diameter 0.15; PME–PME 0.20; PME–PLE 0.25; PME diameter 0.15; MOQAW 0.45; MOQPW 0.50; CI (CL/CW) 1.41; LL:CL 5.08; STL 1.2; STW 1.1. Leg measurements: I—3.0+1.1+3.3+3.2+1.6 = 12.2; II—2.2+0.9+1.9+2.0+0.8 = 7.8; III—1.5+0.7+1.2+1.5+0.6 = 5.5; IV—2.4+0.9+2.1+2.3+0.8 = 8.5; Palp—1.1+0.5+0.4+1.0 = 3.0. Leg spines: I—0, 0-1p-0, 2v- 0- 1 v; II—0, 0, 2v- 1v- 1v; III—0, 0-0-1p1r, 2v-1 v1 p1r-3 v1 p1r; IV—0-0-1p1r, 0-0-1r, 2v-2 v1 p1r -3 v1 p1r. Abdomen: creamy-yellow with dark heart mark and two longitudinal rows of dark markings posterior to heart mark. Palp (Figs 80–81): cymbium elongate, slightly longer than patella plus tibia length; tibia with short broad RTA, with rounded apex; TA slightly sclerotized, broad and somewhat flattened, with hooked apex; EM short, thick, with narrow apex; medially EM has less sclerotized prolateral expansion, with rounded, serrated edge; CON small, distinct but not sclerotized. Female: unknown.

Distribution. Only known from the southern border of Lesotho and the Eastern Cape, South Africa (Fig. 102). Habitat. Collected by sweeping montane grassland above 1700m.
