Description

Genus Azygophleps Hampson, 1892

Hampson, 1892: 309.

Type species. Hepialis scalaris Fabricius, 1775. By original designation.

Azygophleps afghanistanensis (Daniel, 1964) (Figs 75, 127)

Zeuzera regia afghanistanensis Daniel, 1964: 6.

Type locality: O-Afghanistan, Sarobi, Gulbahar.

Type material: holotype (male) in ZSSM, examined.

Distribution: Afghanistan.

Reported for Gulbahar and Sarobi (Daniel 1964) and 30 km NW Kabul (Daniel 1971). Habitat and biology. Flight period: June −July. Altitude: 1100−2500 m (Daniel 1964; 1971). Material examined: male (holotype), O-Afghanistan, Gulbahar, 1700 m, 7.56, Amsel (ZSSM); male (paratype), O- Afghanistan, Sarobi, 1100 m, 3.0 7.56, Amsel leg. (ZSSM); 1 male, Afghan., Prov. Parwan, 69°30, 35°20, Panjishirtal, 1800 m, Charikar, 16.6.1971, leg. Vartian (MNHW).
