Bebelis lignea (Bates, 1866)

Comparison of the holotype of Dorcasta prolongata with photographs of the holotype and original description of Dorcasta lignea allows us to conclude that they are the same species both currently under Bebelis Thomson, 1864. There is no recorded difference in the original descriptions, and the types are very similar in all characters, including the position of the spots of pubescence on head, pronotum and elytra. Thus, Bebelis prolongata is considered herein a new synonym of B. lignea.
