Chrosiothes una new species

Type material. Holotype. Brazil: Bahia, Una, Reserva Biológica de Una, 15°10’S; 39°03’W, 13.IV.1998, A.D. Brescovit et al. leg., 1F (IBSP 18247).

Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition taken from the type locality.

Diagnosis. Females are similar to those of C. jenningsi Piel, 1995 (see Piel 1995, fig. 10), by the presence of oval depression (Fig. 15), but differ from this and the all other species of the genus by the presence of the reduced medium atrium (Fig. 15). Males remain unknown.

Description. Female holotype (from Reserva Biológica de Una, IBSP 18247). Total length 2.73. Carapace length 1.04, width 0.93. Clypeus height 0.14. Sternum length 0.60, width 0.52. Abdomen length 2.18, width 2.10. Leg formula IV/I/II/III; segment length (I/II/III/IV): femora 1.38/1.00/0.77/1.40; patellae+tibiae 1.53/0.98/0.75/ 1.44; metatarsi+tarsi 2.01/1.40/1.09/2.24; total 4.93/3.40/2.62/5.10. Carapace semicircular, dark-brown, with a narrow black border, eye region black and a black band as wide as eye region covering length of carapace (Fig. 27). Chelicerae dark brown. Sternum brown, with darkened edges. ALE and PLE smaller than the other eyes; PME bigger than the other eyes. Legs brown. Abdomen subcircular, olive-brown with yellow transverse bands posteriorly (Fig. 27). Spinnerets orange-brown. Epigynum with a slightly sclerotized plate, wider than long (Fig. 15); ventrally with depression (Fig. 15) with presence of the reduced medium atrium (Fig. 15).

Male. Unknown.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality.
