Thiodina nicoleti Roewer, 1951

Attus elegans Nicolet, 1849: 367, pl. Araneídas 3, figs 2, 2a‒c (male neotype from outside Parque Nacional Fray Jorge, near Coquimbo (30.7°S, 71.7°W), Provincia de Limarí, Chile, VI.2008, E. Hernández, deposited in MZUC-UCCC 43660, reexamined) [species name preoccupied by primary homonym Attus elegans Hentz, 1846 (presently Tutelina elegans)]; Ramírez 1989: 8.

Thiodina elegans: Simon 1900: 392 (type species designation); Simon 1901a: 459.

Thiodina nicoleti Roewer, 1951: 450 (replacement name); Bustamante et al. 2015 (neotype designation); World Spider Catalog 2017.

Morphological remarks. During the description of the neotype, Bustamante et al. (2015) interpreted the promarginal dentition of chelicera as three independent teeth. After a re-examination of the described specimen, we concluded that this species has actually a single promarginal tooth with three cusps. Also, the proximal pair of ventral spines on tibia I is asymmetrical.
