Description

Polycydora Diez, Sanjuan, Reygel & Artois gen. n.

Diagnosis. Polycystididae with a proboscis showing four pairs of proboscis retractors and a ventral pair of integument retractors. Ovaries, testes and vitellaria paired. With a prostate stylet type II connected to a prostate vesicle type II containing eosinophilic secretion. Stalk of the male bursa with a thick, symmetrical muscle layer. Ovaries elongate, kidney shaped. Female bursa well-developed, with a long stalk, ending at the junction of the two oviducts.

Etymology. The name Polycydora is composed of Polycy-, taken from the genus Polycystis Kölliker, 1845, and of - dora, taken from the genus Paulodora Marcus, 1948, as the new genus shows some characters of both these genera.

Type species. Polycydora intermedia sp. n., by monotypy.
