Ariadne tovarensis Simon, 1893 b: 448 (♀ lectotype and 2♀ lectoparatypes from Colônia ToVar [10°24'30"N; 67°17'22"W], Aragua, Venezuela, Simon leg., deposited in MNHNP-AR 14388 and MNHNP-AR 14388; 14389, respectively, designated by Beatty (1970), examined).

Diagnosis. Ariadna tovarensis is similar to A. caparao n. sp. due to the elongated lobes of the anterior receptaculum, but differs by presenting the ventral lobe almost straight and shorter than the DL (Fig. 26E‒F).

Description. Male. Unknown.

Female (Lectotype). Carapace and chelicerae orange (Fig. 26A). Endites yellow, labium orange. Sternum yellow, with darker margins (Fig. 26B). Palps yellow, darkening gradually in distal direction. Legs yellow, with pairs I‒II darker (Fig. 26C‒D). Abdomen light grey (Fig. 26A‒B). Total length 7.4; carapace 3.04 long, 2.16 wide. Legs: robust and coated with setae; legs I‒II with ventro-prolateral and ventro-retrolateral tibial macrosetae of similar size, and metatarsal macrosetae of different sizes (Fig. 26C‒D). Leg formula: I-II-IV-III. Leg measurements: I, femur 2.24, patella 0.96, tibia 1.6, metatarsus 1.52, tarsus 0.6, total 6.92; II, 2.0, 0.96, 1.6, 1.4, 0.52, 6.48; III, 1.6, 0.76, 1.0, 0.92, 0.44, 4.72; IV, 1.92, 0.96, 1.44, 1.12, 0.52, 5.96. Macrosetae: I, femur D0-0-0-0- 0-2-0, P0-0-0-0-2-1-0; tibia P0-1-0-1-1/0-1-0, vp1-0-1-0-1-0-1, vr1/2-0-1-0-1-0-1, R1-0-1-0-1-0-1; metatarsus vp1-0/1-1-1-1-1-1, vr1-0-1-1-0-1-1 (Fig. 26C‒D); II, femur D0-0-0-0-0-2-0, P0-0-0-0-0/1-1-0; tibia P0-0/1-0-1-1/ 0-1-0, vp0-0-0-1/0-0-1-1, vr1-0-1-0-1-0-1, R0-0-1-0-1-0-1/0; metatarsus vp1-0-1-1-0-1-1, vr1-0-1-1-0-1-1; IV, metatarsus vr metatarsal comb with 4 macrosetae. Internal genitalia: anterior receptaculum with glandular plate located in the median region, and expanded in its proximal region (Fig. 26E‒F).

Variation. Female (n=3): Total length 6.04‒7.52; carapace 2.6‒3.04 long, 1.76‒2.16 wide; femur I 1.96‒2.24.

Distribution. Only known from the type locality (Fig. 68).
