Description
Choranthias tenuis (Nichols, 1920)
Anthias tenuis Nichols, 1920
Holotype: AMNH 7310, 68 mm SL.
Type locality: off Bermuda. Illustrations: Anderson & Heemstra, 2012, fig. 15; Bullock & Smith, 1991, pl. I, fig. B. Kuiter, 2004:17.
D: X, 14 or 15 (almost always 15; very rarely with IX spines). A: III, 7 to 9 (usually 8). P: 19 to 21 (usually 20). C: 15 (8+ 7). V: 26 (10 + 16). S: 2. GR: 34 to 39, usually 35 to 37 (9 to 11 + 24 to 28). LL: 51 to 57 (usually 52 to 56). CP: 25 to 28.
Distribution: known from the western Atlantic off Bermuda and North Carolina, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean Sea.
