Description

Key to Palearctic species of Dentilabus

1 Occipital carina meeting hypostomal carina. Notaulus not developed (Fig. 9). Punctures on scutellum sparser than on mesoscutum (Fig. 9). Areolet quadrangular, often slightly petiolate (Fig. 13). Hind femur black or reddish. Punctures on postpetiole not reaching to its hind margin (Fig. 11). Gastrocoelus quite deep, interval between thyridiae depressed (Fig. 11). Male flagellum without distinct tyloid.................................................................................. 2

- Occipital carina not meeting hypostomal carina. Notaulus developed in apical 1/3 (Fig. 23). Mesoscutum and scutellum uniformly densely punctate (Fig. 23). Areolet alomost pentagonal, never petiolate (Fig. 14). Hind femur black. Dorsomedian carina distinct from base to the line of T1 spiracles. Punctures on postpetiole reaching to its hind margin (Fig. 25). Gastrocoelus rather shallow, interval between thyridiae not depressed (Fig. 25). Male flagellum with distinct tyloids (Fig. 28)..................................................................... Dentilabus iyoensis, new species [Japan: Shikoku]

2 More developed white spots and bands. All femora and tibiae mostly orange to reddish brown. Propodeum in profile a little shorter, petiolar area more than 2.7 × as long as areola. Bend of T1 a little more obtuse, in profile the angle between petiole and postpetiole about 140°................................. D. variegatus (Wesmael) [Western Palearctic (Yu et al., 2011)]

- White pattern on the body often reduced. All femora and tibiae blackish. Propodeum in profile a little longer, petiolar area 1.7– 2.4 × as long as areola. Bend of T1 a little more acute, in profile the angle between petiole and postpetiole 120–125°............................... D. nigripodus, new species [Japan: Hokkaidô, Honshû, Shikoku, Kyûshû; Korea: Gangwon-do]
