Ruizanthedella Moure 1964

Description

Ruizanthedella Moure

Ruizantheda (Ruizanthedella) Moure, 1964: 267. Type species: Halictus mutabilis Spinola

The genus Ruizanthedella can be distinguished from other genera of Caenohalictini by the following characters of the male: labrum with apical process, apical margin of S4 medially concave, and retrorse lobe of genital capsule with no basal projection. The genus is phylogenetically close to the clade Pseudagapostemon + Ruizantheda (molecular data, Danforth et al. 2004), or sister to Ruizantheda (morphological data, Gonçalves & Melo 2009). The relationships with other genera have been also discussed in González-Vaquero and Roig-Alsina (2009) and Coelho et al. (2014). According to available catalogues (Moure 2007; Montalva & Ruz 2010), the genus Ruizanthedella contains three species: R. mutabilis (Spinola, 1851), R. nigrocaerulea (Spinola, 1851), and R. cerdai (Rojas, 2001).
