Alloseius pratensis Karg 1965, comb. nov.

Description

Alloseius pratensis (Karg, 1965) comb. nov.

(Figs 5−8, 19, 21)

Iphidosoma pratensis Karg, 1965: 263; 1971: 121; 1993: 94; Bregetova, 1977: 561. Alliphis pratensis.⎯ Kethley, 1983: 2599.

Material examined. Holotype. Female, northwest Germany, Engeln village, meadow soil sample, June 1958, W. Karg's slide no. 3439, deposited at Museum für Naturkunde der Humboldt Universität, Berlin under the ZMB catalogue no. 41081.

Supplement to original description (holotype female). Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 5). Idiosoma dorsoventrally flattened, oval-shaped, length 425 µm. Dorsal shield strongly sculptured, with coarse punctatereticulate cluster pattern of nodules forming a distinct network. Dorsal surface bearing 28 pairs of setae, plus j1 and z1 on ventral surface close to vertex. Most dorsal setae smooth and needle-like, subequal in length; medial setae j5, j6, z5 slightly shorter than lateral and marginal setae. Setae j1 short, 6–7 µm; j1, J4, J5 short, columnar in shape, with rounded tips; z1 short, fine, needle-like. Pore-like structures small, barely visible.

Ven t ra l idiosoma (Figs 6, 8). Peritrematal shields well developed, wide, almost truncate posteriorly, with a reticulation pattern on surface. Anterior extension of the shield overlapping onto ventral surface beyond vertex, fused to anterior parts of peritrematal shields to form an arched structure bearing shortened setae j1 and z1. Opisthogastric and lateral soft cuticle striated, distinctly ornamented with reticulate patern of small tubercles.

Gnathosoma. Palptarsus with two-tined apotele, without paired macroeupathidial setae. Other features of gnathosoma not visible.

Legs. Legs I–IV with well-developed pretarsi and claws. Chaetotaxy: femora I–IV: 2-5/4-2, 2-5/3-1, 1-3/ 1-1, 1-3/1-1; genua I–IV: 1-5/3-2, 2-5/2-2, 1-4/2-1, 1-4/1-1; tibiae I–IV: 1-5/3-2, 2-4/2-2, 1-3/2-1, 1-3/2-1. Tarsi II–IV with 18 setae.
