Description

Genus Sibogagorgia Stiasny, 1937

Diagnostic characters. Paragorgiidae with scleritic medulla without large penetrating canals, but with the main solenia around the subsurface/outer medulla (boundary canals) as a reticulate network (see details in Verseveldt, 1942). The network of canals can be observed under the light microscope as a regularly reticulate and uniform mesh just beneath the surface. Polyps without tentacular sclerites. Autozooid polyps uniform to randomly distributed along the branches.
