Description
Maruina (Aculcina) duckhousei Bravo
(Figs. 2–3)
Maruina (Aculcina) duckhousei Bravo, 2005: 639–640.
Diagnosis. Combination of the following characters: eyes touching at midline (Fig. 2); wing vein R 4 reaching wing margin closer to R 5 than to R 3; abdominal tergite VII with a pair of long-bristled tufts; aedeagus with short and thin spines, similar to a cluster of micro bristles; aedeagal sheath with H-shaped median sclerotized area.
Material examined. Holotype: ♂ BRAZIL, Rio de Janeiro, Represa Rio Grande, ix.1969, col. M. Alvarenga (MZFS).
Distribution. Brazil (Rio de Janeiro)
Holotype condition. slide mounted, with antennae and palpi incomplete.
Remarks. Bravo (2005) stated this species does not have internal sclerotized bands on abdominal sternites 5–8. It truly does not show the internal strong sclerotized bands as seen in M. (A.) guria for example, but it does have four very thin but well sclerotized bands on abdominal sternites 5–8 (Fig. 3).
