Diagnosis. Carapace 1.3 times as long as high, 1.3 times as long as wide; ocular lobe present; mid-dorsal carina absent; dorsally 5–7 pairs of spines directed anteriorly; posterior single pair of posteriorly directed spines; both anterolateral, lateral and posterolateral margins serrated; pseudorostrum prominent.

Description. Holotype LA60-001.00: Carapace (TL 949.2 μm; CL716.4; CW 552.1 μm and CH 554 μm) (Figure 2) 1.3 times as long as high, 1.3 times as long as wide; ocular lobe present; mid-dorsal carina absent, domelike dorsally, more elevated in the middle, posterior part slightly excavated, anterior flattened; regular and sparsely scattered, densely covered with small acute tubercles and small pits, and numerous spines with a large anteriorly directed postocular spine on pseudorostral lobe; dorsally 5–7 pairs of spines directed anteriorly; posterior single pair of posteriorly directed spines; both anterolateral, lateral and posterolateral margins serrated, anterolateral margin with 28–32 notches on each side; serration on anterolateral margin directed forward; pseudorostrum one-third the carapace length, base width 1.4 times and tip width 5.4 times in length, prominent, obliquely directed, carinate, tip with couple of spines; single pair of forward directed medium sized spins laterally located, one-third of the base of pseudorostrum. Thorax, pleon, and appendages are unknown. Measurements of the carapace are given in Table 2 and the ornamentation of the carapace is shown in Figure 3.

Remarks. No other body fragments and/or other species belonging to this order were found in any of the sediment core samples studied within the MAREM project (N= 51) throughout the Sea of Marmara. In addition, no extant specimen was found during the numerous biodiversity samples from the same localities performed between 2008 and 2018.

Gender. Unknown.

Etymology. The trivial name honours Prof. Dr. F. Samime Artüz, geologist and preeminent sediment specialist and primary author of studies on petrography and palynology around Turkey. The specific name is a noun in the genitive singular.

Localities. Sea of Marmara, (34° 00.000’ N– 029° 55.050’ E / 41° 20.000’ N– 025° 00.000’ E) with an approximately depth of 800–1200 m at the Upper Pleistocene.
