Description
Genus Plutomurus Yosii, 1956
Type species: Tritomurus riugadoensis Yosii 1939.
Type locality: Riugado cave, Prefecture of Koti, Sikoku, Japan.
Diagnosis. Trochanteral-femoral organ well developed in trochanter and femur. Base of dens with lateral outer spine-like macrochaetae.
Distribution. Holarctic.
Remarks. The genus Plutomurus is quite similar to genus Aphaenomurus, however, it is distinguishable from the latter by trochanteral-femoral organ present only on femur. Species of the genus Aphaenomurus can also be found at cave ecosystem, but they are found only in entrance zone with leaf litter, not in dark zone.
