Craspedosoma armatum

Description

Craspedosoma armatum (Gerstfeldt, 1859)

Julus armatus Gerstfeldt 1859: 272. Craspedosoma armatum — Haase 1880: 224; Mikhaljova 1993: 34; 2019: 5; Mikhaljova & Golovatch 2001: 117.

Ancestreuma armatum — Lokšina & Golovatch 1979: 383.

Remarks. This species was p oorly described from Irkutsk, East Siberia (Gerstfeldt 1859). Haase (1880) later identified a specimen from Kultuk (Irkutskaya Oblast), preserved in the Breslau Museum, as belonging to this species. However, he transferred it to the old genus Craspedosoma only because Craspedosoma in those times included many chordeumatids. Then Lokšina and Golovatch (1979) transferred this species to the modern genus Ancestreuma. The second transfer was carried out without any justification or explanation as well as without the researching any material. Thus, the species remains obscure and awaits a revision. Unfortunately, the type material has not been preserved. However, it is most likely that this species belongs to the family Diplomaragnidae. Only strict topotypes and the material studied by Haase (1880) will allow to finally solving the riddle.
