Description
Amblypomacentrus breviceps (Schlegel & Müller 1840) —Black-banded damselfish
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken east of Nago Island, Kavieng District, at 2–9 m depth, St. KR28, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Maldives, Indonesia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, northern Australia, Solomon Islands, and Queensland (Australia). Found in silty inshore and lagoon areas with coral or rocky outcrops, 2–35 m depth. Marine.
