Description
Plectorhinchus lessonii (Cuvier in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1830) —Striped sweetlips
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed at Kavieng fish market by Barry C. Russell on 7 and 21 June 2014; a video of a specimen taken at Martha's Shoal, off eastern New Hanover, at 7–41 m depth, St. KR 122, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to northern Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Found in coastal, lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 1–35 m depth. Marine.
