Diplotrichus robustus Jordal, sp. nov.

Type material. Holotype, female: Madagascar, Sud Fereis Nord F Dauphin, Allaud, 1900 [16]. HT deposited in NHMW.
Diagnosis. Stout species; female frons concave with dense brush of short setae along the dorsal margin of concavity; pronotum as broad as long, anterior margin broadly rounded; interstrial setae short and spatulate, separated by their length.
Description, female. Length 1.7 mm, 2.2 × long as wide; colour dark reddish brown. Frons concave, short projecting setae along dorsal margin of concavity, setae as long as width of club; other setae in impressed are much shorter, scant. Eyes separated above by 3.3 × their width. Antennal scapus short, triangular; club as broad as long, basal suture slightly recurved, apical suture strongly procurved, segment between the two sutures large and corneous, shiny. Pronotum as broad as long, broadly rounded in front; summit distinct, strongly asperate on anterior half, rugose on posterior half; vestiture of scant hair-like setae, denser and longer on anterior half. Elytral interstriae increasingly but finely granulated posteriorly, setae very short, spatulate, occasionally truncated, separated within uniseriate rows by slightly more than their length. Protibiae with one lateral and two apical denticles.
Etymology. A Latin nominative adjective meaning robust, referring to the stout body shape. This is a manuscript name coined by Schedl, but was never published.
Distribution and biology. Madagascar. Only known from the type locality in Tolanaro (Fort Dauphin).
