Diagnosis: Males of P. caligula are characterized by the RTA with a basal outgrowth with widely serrated frontal margin with three short teeth, two with short sharp tips in dorsal view. Females are recognized by the epigyne with two slightly recurved frontal folds, combined with oblong structures with five or six longitudinal stripes along the posterior margin.

Etymology: The species name refers to the bootshaped RTA of the male palp.
