Description

Exogonia luteovittata Mauro-Barr, Carvalho et Felix sp. nov.

(Figs 28–38)

Length: Male holotype, 5.6 mm; male paratype, 6.3-6.7 mm; female paratype, 6.6-6.7 mm.

Male holotype. Head (Figs 28, 29), in dorsal view, moderately produced, anterior margin narrowly rounded; median length of crown 2/3 interocular width and 2/5 transocular width; epicranial and frontogenal sutures distinct, temporal sutures partially visible; with pair of foveae externally to ocelli. Pronotum (Figs 28, 29), in dorsal view, with width slightly larger than transocular width. Forewings (Fig. 28) with membrane slightly developed, extending from median portion of wing along costal margin and expanding apically on apical cells.

Ground color of dorsum (Figs 28, 29) brown to dark brown; with two longitudinal yellow stripes extending from anterior margin of crown to apical portion of forewings; stripes convergent anteriorly on crown and pronotum. Forewings (Fig. 28) with narrow yellow stripe along costal margin (other small yellow maculae are present). Face black; frons with few small yellow spots medially and near transition to crown; genae with anterior pale yellow macula; lora almost entirely pale yellow; posterolateral margin of head bordered with yellow; proepisternum almost entirely yellow; lateral pronotal lobes with lower and posterior portions yellow. Venter dark brown; legs pale yellow.

Pygofer (Fig. 30), in lateral view, with macrosetae on apical portion and extending anteriorly along ventral margin; apical portion with small, ventral inner process bearing numerous setae. Subgenital plates (Fig. 31), in ventral view, gradually tapered toward apex; with macrosetae near outer margin. Styles (Fig. 32), in dorsal view, short, extending approximately as far posteriorly as apex of connective; with distinct external median lobe; apical portion beyond lobe curved, with few setae; apex expanded, truncate. Connective (Fig. 32), in dorsal view, Y-shaped. Aedeagus (Fig. 33) short; shaft, in lateral view, slightly curved ventrally, with distinct dorsoapical expanded lobe; in dorsal view, with pair of lateral spiniform projections on median portion. Paraphyses (Figs 34, 35) with anterior pair of rami, in lateral view, elongate, directed anterodorsally; posterior pair, in lateral view, directed dorsally, apical portion curved posteroventrally; stalk approximately as long as rami. Anal tube (segment X), in lateral view, with pair of small processes on ventroapical margin, similar to those of pygofer.

Female genitalia (based on one paratype). Sternite VII (Fig. 36) broader than long; posterior margin with three distinct lobes; lateral margins approximately rectilinear and parallel; surface with small setae mostly on posterior portion. Pygofer (Fig. 37) as in E. flavomaculata. Second valvulae (Fig. 38) as in E. flavomaculata.

Etymology. The specific epithet, luteovittata, is of Latin derivation and refers to the yellow longitudinal stripes on the dorsum.
