Lycochoriolaus angustatus (Melzer, 1935)

Lycochoriolaus angustatus; Linsley & Chemsak, 1976: 35; Monné, 2006: 125 (cat.). Euryptera rotundipennis Fuchs, 1956: 570. New synonymy.

Lycochoriolaus rotundipennis; Linsley & Chemsak, 1976: 35.

Examination of a color photograph of the holotype of E. rotundipennis, sent by Herbert Schmid, and 41 specimens ranging from the State of Bahia to Santa Catarina, revealed considerable variation in the color pattern of the elytra. Based on this variation, we propose the new synonymy.

Geographical distribution. Brazil (Bahia to Santa Catarina).

Specimens examined. Holotype. only photo examined, BRAZIL, Santa Catarina: Mafra. Other speciments. BRAZIL, Bahia: Encruzilhada (Rodovia Rio–Bahia, km 985, 960 m), 1 male, XI.1972 (Seabra & Roppa leg.); 3 males, 2 females, XI.1974 (Seabra & Roppa leg.). Minas Gerais: Águas Vermehas, 8 males, female, XI.1970 (F. M. Oliveira leg.). Espírito Santo: Linhares (Parque Sooretama), 2 females, XI.1967 (F. M. Oliveira leg.). Rio de Janeiro: Petrópolis, female, XII.1972 (P. R. Magno leg.). São Paulo: São José Barreiros (Serra da Bocaina), 10 males, XII.1967 (Alvarenga & Seabra leg.); Teodoro Sampaio, male, VIII.1986 (F. M. Oliveira leg.). Santa Catarina: Mafra, 10 males, 3 females, XII.1937 (A. Maller leg.). All specimens in the MNRJ collection.
