25. Carinoscolia vittifrons (Sichel, 1864)

Scolia vittifrons Sichel, 1864: 125, ♀, Japan, (plesiotype in Berlin Museum).

Scolia vittifrons: Kirby, 1889: 449.

Scolia (Carinoscolia) vittifrons hoozanensis: Betrem, 1928: 186; Betrem, 1941: 115.

Scolia (Carinoscolia) vittifrons f. hoozanensis: Uchida, 1934: 243; Uchida, 1926: 21.

Scolia nipponensis fascinata hoozanensis: Betrem, 1941: 114.

Scolia (Carinoscolia) hoozanensis: Tsuneki, 1972a: 22.

Distribution. China (Anhui, Beijing, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Sichuan, Taiwan, Zhejiang); Japan, Korea, Russian and Thailand?.

Notes. Carinoscolia vittifrons hoozanensis (Betrem, 1928) was once reported as a subspecies of C. vittifrons (Sichel, 1864). There are some minor differences, especially in colour between them (anterior part of T2 rather narrowly polished; upper part of area between antennal sockets and subvertex partially yellow in nominate C. vittifrons, anterior part of T2 widely polished; upper part of area between antennal sockets up to posterior edge of head (sometimes excluding ocellar area) yellow in C. hoozanensis).
