Promalactis latifundus Kim & Heppner & Park 2017, sp. nov.

Description

Promalactis latifundus Kim, sp. nov.

Diagnosis

This species is externally similar to Promalactis trigonilancis sp. nov., but it can be easily distinguished by the irregularly developed antemedial white marking, not a band like that of P. trigonilancis sp. nov. in the fore wing, and the third segment of labial palpus is white from the base to the middle, tinged with dark brown from the middle to the apex. The female genitalia are characterized by the ductus seminalis largely developed, ovate, bearing tiny spines.

Description

Adult (Figures 2g, 3g). Head: Frons dark brown. Vertex white tinged with dark brown with dark brown occiput. Antenna with scape white entirely, as long as diameter of eye; flagellum white and dark brown alternately dorsally. Labial palpus with second segment yellowish dark brown, scattered with fuscous scales; third segment white from base to middle, tinged with dark brown from middle to apex, shorter than second segment. Thorax: Thorax and tegula dark brown. Wingspan 10.0–11.0 mm. Fore wing ground colour yellowish brown; three bands edged with fuscous scales: subbasal band close to wing base; antemedial band broadly developed, broadened at costal margin and narrowest at middle, with incurved inner margin and somewhat irregular outer margin, traversed from one-fifth of costal margin to one-quarter of posterior margin; medial band narrow, very oblique outwardly, not reaching costal patch; costal patch at twothirds, large, circular, edged with fuscous scales along lower margin; apical patch large, somewhat triangular; fringes greyish dark brown. Hind wing ground colour pale greyish dark brown; fringes greyish dark brown.

Male unknown.

Female genitalia (Figure 5c, 5 ca)

Papilla anales setose. Apophyses posteriores about 1.5 times length of apophyses anteriores. Lamella postvaginalis largely developed, incised medially, setose on caudal margin. Lamella antevaginalis a nether lip-shaped. Antrum wide in width, straight to ducuts bursae. Ductus bursae wrinkled vertically, gradually narrowed from one-half to corpus bursae; ductus seminalis arising from anterior margin of ductus bursae, ovatesack shaped, bearing tiny spines, half length and width of ductus bursae. Corpus bursae ovate; signum absent.

Etymology

The specific name is derived from the Latin lati - (= broad), plus the Latin fund(a) (= pocket), plus the adjective suffix – us, referring to broadly developed antrum and ductus bursae in the female genitalia.
