Centris pseudoephippia Friese, 1899

Centris pseudoephippia Friese, 1899: 47. Junior synonym of C. ephippium Smith, 1854 (Vivallo 2019).

Type data: This species was proposed based on a single male collected in Sierra de Parima (“ St. Parime ”), Venezuela. The holotype is housed at AMNH and it has the following data label: Venezuela St. Parime 1897 [printed]\ Centris pseudoephippia Fr. ♂ [handwritten] 1901 Friese det. [printed]\ Am. Mus. Nat. Hist. Dept. Invert. Zool. No. [printed] 26074 [handwritten]\ Type [red square, printed]\ AMNH _ IZC 00324046 QR code [printed] (AMNH).

Type locality: Venezuela: Amazonas state: Sierra de Parima (“ St. Parime ”).

Comment: The holotype is a male of C. ephippium with yellowish pubescence on the dorsal surface of the mesosoma, a very variable character.
