Limeum africanum Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 10, 2: 995. 1759.
["Habitat in Aethiopia."] Sp. Pl., ed. 2, 1: 489 (1762). RCN: 2640.
Neotype (Jeffrey in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 61. 1993): Garcin 11, Herb. Burman (G).
Generitype of Limeum Linnaeus.
Current name: Limeum africanum L. (Molluginaceae).
Note: Friedrich in Mitt. Bot. Staatssamml. München 2: 139. 1955) stated "Typus speciei: Burmann s.Nr. LINN". Although there are two sheets in LINN (477.1, 477.2), they are annotated only by Linnaeus filius, and give no indication of any link with Burman. Consequently they are later additions to the collection and are not original material for the name. They do not appear to be part of the same collection so Art. 9.15 does not apply. Jeffrey has designated a collection in Burman’s herbarium (G) as a neotype.
