Description
Poa compressa Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 69. 1753.
"Habitat in Europae & Americae septentrionalis siccis. muris, tectis." RCN: 583.
Lectotype (Soreng in Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 255. 2000): Herb. Linn. No. 87.41 (LINN).
Current name: Poa compressa L. (Poaceae).
Note: Although Kerguélen (in Lejeunia, n.s., 75: 238. 1975) stated "Type:...LINN", this is not accepted as a formal typification, for the reasons explained by Cafferty & al. (in Taxon 49: 240. 2000). Meikle (Fl. Cyprus 2: 1745. 1985) indicated unspecified material in LINN as type, but did not distinguish between sheets 87.41-87.45 (which are not part of a single gathering so Art. 9.15 does not apply).
