Description

Baltimora recta Linnaeus, Mantissa Plantarum Altera: 288. 1771, typ. cons.

"Habitat in Marilandia, ad urbem Baltimore. H. U." RCN: 6645.

Conserved type (Reveal & al. in Taxon 40: 337. 1991): Vera Cruz. Houstoun (BM-000576304).

Generitype of Baltimora Linnaeus, nom. cons.

Current name: Baltimora recta L. (Asteraceae).

Note: Reveal & al. (in Taxon 40: 336-338. 1991) proposed the conservation of Baltimora with a conserved type. The Committee for Spermatophyta (in Taxon 43: 116. 1994) initially ruled that the proposed type should be considered a neotype but subsequently (in Taxon 47: 863. 1998) recommended acceptance of the original proposal.
